GROUP ALLEGES SCARCITY OF JAMB REG. CARD NATIONWIDE
By Eben Enasco Kingsley, Benin City
A group, under the Aggies of Concerned and Affected Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, UTME, 2016, Candidates in Edo State, has staged a protest against the body over what they alleged as purported scarcity of online registration cards Nation wide.
The peaceful protest which was held in the state capital was marred
with various placard inscriptions, ” we want the Leadership of JAMB sacked,” we have been denied access to our future, Please rescue us from their way,” and few others to register their dismay.
The leader of the group, Mr. Johnson Ehimwenma, while speaking to newsmen, stressed that the main reason for the protest was to inform the government and other relevant stakeholders over the lackadaisical approach of JAMB in the sales of the forms.
“We wish to draw the attention of the state government to the ugly
trends of events with regards to the JAMB, UTME, 2016 Registration. But we observed with dismay that three weeks to the purported closure of sales and online Registration that there was already scar city of cards nationwide.it is on this note that we call on you for urgent rescue,” he stated
It should be noted that JAMB Examinations are conducted once in a
year, whilst students are denied access, the implications are they lose
that year for admission which could lead to frustration and risk of
having several idle youths roaming in the street.
The group while pleading with the authority for an extension for
further registration, harp on the need to have more accredited centres Nationwide to reduce panicking and accommodate more sales.
Attempts made to get the coordinator JAMB Office Edo State Zonal
office to comment on the allegations proved abortive as we were
reliably informed he is out of town on official duty as at press time.
