ANGLICAN WOMEN HOLDS MAIDEN HOME, ABROAD CONFERENCE
By Our Correpondent
The Maiden Edition of home and abroad women conference with the theme “In a Time Like This” held at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Umutu has ended with a call on Christian faithfuls to live simple lifestyle.
The call was made by the Vicar-in-Charge of St. Thomas, Venue. J. O. C Ogwu at the inauguration ceremony of 1st home and abroad meeting.
Reading from II Kings 19, the clergy noted that the word of God is meant to remould the children of God, which is the reason of being in church – to be like Christ! He advised the congregation to always look onto God in order to succeed in whatever they do.
Earlier in her address, the President of the Home and Abroad women’s wing, Lady Lovelyn Okpue enjoined the women to worship God always in spirit and in truth – in a time like this. She said according to II Timothy 3:1-9 that, it is a time Christians women to change from all sorts of sinful behaviours, disobedience, pride, lovers of pleasures and earthly things, corruption in all it’s form.
Lady Lovelyn urged the women to embrace the word of God; make God’s word your standard and be steadfast in faith.
She stated that amongst other things that the reasons for the home and abroad meeting was for the Anglican Family to fellowship together to digest the word of God and create an opportunity to think of what to do for the local church.
The President appreciated the host, Ven. & Mrs Just. O. C Ogwu for their efforts in organising the conference adding that the meeting will be held annually for Umutu daughters to refresh themselves in God’s word.
Meanwhile, the Chief Host, Mrs C. N Ogwu has expressed her gratitude to God for the success of the conference. She noted that one of the aims of the meeting was for the women to know each other especially their wives abroad.
Highlights of the conference was thanksgiving by the various branches and the inauguration of the executives.
