Wife of the Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, on Friday put smiles on the faces of over 100 women and windows in Warri South Council area as she splashes Xmas gifts on  them.
Representing the wife of the governor, Wife of the Warri South Council Chairman, Mrs Juliet Tidi, who distributed the items to the women, said the gesture was part of Okowa’s wife Christmas gifts to widows and other underprivileged persons across Delta State.
Mrs Tidi commended the wife the Delta State governor for putting smiles on the faces of the women in the council area.
She said the gift items which included rice, tomatoes and groundnut oil, were shared among the women in all the wards in the council area, adding that the women selected were from the grassroots.
She urged the wife of the Delta State Governor not to relent in her efforts in putting smiles on the faces of the downtrodden.
Mrs Tidi said, “I really want to thank Dame Edith Okowa for this wonderful gesture. She has been doing this in all the 25 local government areas of the state. You can see how happy these women were because most of them that were selected were from the poor areas and they could not actually afford these items.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Gbubemi Kolo, who spoke to journalists said, “I am really very happy for this gesture. This year’s sharing cuts across all the wards and they are the women who really voted during the last election. With this gesture, we are promising Okowa that we will vote for him again in 2019.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Mary Ketu, a widow, said, “I really appreciate the wife of the governor for this gifts and I pray God blesses her and her husband. We pray she continues with this goodwill and continue to remember us, especially the widows.”
