NUJ Celebrates Tompolo at 54, Commends Efforts in Securing Niger Delta Oil Assets

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, has extended warm felicitations to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 54th birthday, praising his transformative impact in the fight against oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of the Chapel, Okies Okpomor, the Union commended Tompolo’s leadership as Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), describing his role in the nation’s oil sector as “pivotal to Nigeria’s economic growth.”
The statement noted the positive turnaround in the nation’s crude oil production since the Federal Government awarded a contract to Tantita to secure critical oil infrastructure in the region.
According to the Chapel, Nigeria’s crude oil output has risen to 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd), a milestone attributed to Tantita’s aggressive onslaught against illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism, and piracy.
“The Chapel cannot forget in a hurry the pitiable state of oil production in the country, which was largely due to illegal bunkering activities. Since TSSNL took charge, we have seen a remarkable improvement in oil output, contributing immensely to the country’s economic stability,” the statement read.
The NUJ further noted that Tompolo’s contributions extend beyond oil security, praising his philanthropic gestures, leadership qualities, and influence on youth empowerment in the Niger Delta.
“Your immeasurable contributions to protecting the nation’s critical assets in the oil and gas sector have significantly boosted crude oil revenue to its highest level in years,” the Chapel added.
As Tompolo marked his 54th birthday on April 12, 2024, the Chapel joined family, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating his life, praying for more years of sound health, peace, and continued service to the nation.
“Sir, the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel congratulates you once again and wishes you many happy returns,” the message concluded.
Tompolo, a former Niger Delta militant leader turned security contractor, has received both local and international commendation for his efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil assets through his private security firm.
