Gbaramatu Communities Chairmen in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have raised the alarm over alleged plan by the Transport Minister, Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi and the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Administration (NIMASA), Peterside Dakuku to move the Dockyard Jetty meant for the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko in Delta State to Rivers State and warned them not to create another crisis in the Region.
The Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community, Comrade Sheriff Mulade who made the call on behalf of the Chairmen of Gbaramatu Communities said that the Transport Minister and the NIMASA boss were trying to undermine the prevailing peace in the oil rich Niger Delta region should they go ahead with the alleged plan to relocate the Dockyard of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko being manufactured abroad to Rivers State instead of being taken to the site of the University.
While pouring praises on President Muhammadu for his commitment to the smooth take off of the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Comrade Mulade warned that nothing must be done by those he described as “enemies of the Region” to frustrate the efforts of the President.
He said that;”We the peace loving people of Gbaramatu Kingdom are calling on the Federal Government, security agents and international community to kindly call the Honourable Minister of Transport, Rt Hon Rotimi Ameachi and the Director General of NIMASA Peterside Dakuku to order to avoid another round of crisis. While blaming the Transport Minister for “the unnecessary crisis that rocked the oil and gas industry in the Region as a result of his display of political and ethnic hatred for the people particularly the Ijaws”, the Community Leader enjoined all and sundry to assist the President in his peace efforts in the Region.
According to him; “It is unfortunate that those in government who are expected to support and assist government to achieve the desired peace and development are those creating crisis for reasons best known to them and such people must be checked now.”
