Dr. Michael Tidi, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, has urged people living and doing business in Warri South council area and other Nigerians to downplay issues of ethno-religious divide and consolidate on factors that unite us as people with common destiny.

Dr. Tidi, who gave the advice in a statement to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary, opined that the call became necessary following divisive narratives being canvassed by some persons in the country.

The second term Warri South Local Government Chairman, averred that the theme of this year’s anniversary: “Together, Come, Let Us Build,” couldn’t have come at a better time, saying the current situation in the country requires soul – searching by all, with a view to reinventing the dream of our founding fathers and resetting the country on a path of genuine peace, progress and tangible development.

He reiterated the resolve of his administration to continually provide quality and people-driven governance at the grassroots as well as step up advocacy for proper mentorship of youths, “so as to strengthen their capacity in preparation towards service to the Nation.”
