The traditional ruler of Agbon Kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta state, HRM, Ogurime-Rime, Ukori I, has said that all sons and daughters of the Kingdom must work hard to stamp out criminality from the area.

Speaking at the weekend at Isiokolo while conferring Chieftaincy titles on 35 eminent personalities, the monarch lamented that it had been hot for the Kingdom due to youth restiveness.

“Today is a great day in the history of Agbon Kingdom and I am happy that we are able to sit here at Isiokolo, headquarters of Ethiope East Local Government Area peaceful for this ceremony. It has been hot in Agbon Kingdom for a while now as a result of youth restiveness,” he said.

The Monarch added that; “I pray God for our youths to change their bad ways. It is my charge to the youths to turn a new leaf. All and sundry should advise our youths to be of good behavior from now on. All peace loving sons and daughters of Agbon kingdom must work hard to stamp out criminality from our kingdom.”

The traditional ruler implored the 35 recipients of the chieftaincy titles to continue with their good work for the country in general and Delta State in particular.

He made it clear that chieftaincy title in Agbon Kingdom was not for sale but given to only deserving people.

Speaking to newsmen at the well attended ceremony, Dr. (Mrs.) Tuwere Nelly Utuama, wife of the Deputy Governor urged youths to shun social vices.

She said; “I want to add my voice to the charge on our youths by the traditional ruler, our youths should do those things that will bring honour to them and the state. Our youths should know that nothing good comes easy. Our youths should work hard and be patient. They should shun quick wealth; they should do what is right always.”

While congratulating those given chieftaincy titles by the monarch, the wife of the Deputy Governor tasked youths to emulate those honoured by the king, saying that; “Our youths have to ensure that they live their lives like those honoured today because if they were not good products of the society they will not be so honoured.

Also speaking to newsmen Chief Abraham Odjighoro (The Usiavwe of Agbon Kingdom), described the ceremony as unique in the history of Agbon Kingdom.

The ceremony was witnessed by an array of members of the Agbon Traditional Council and other notable personalities including Chief Sunday Onoriode, Transition Committee Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, former military administrator of kano and Benue States, Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (Rtd) and host of others.
