Good Shepherd Catholic Boys Secondary School, Oyede, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, yesterday came out first during the match past to mark the 55th Independence Anniversary celebration.

Commissioner for Women Affairs, Rev. (Mrs.) Omatsola Williams, presenting the first prize to the representative of Good Shepherd Boys’ Secondary School, Oyede, which came out first during the match past to mark the Independence Anniversary Celebration.

Selected Schools in Delta State participated in the match past that took place in Asaba, the Delta State Capital.

The nation’s 55th Independence Anniversary Celebration in Asaba was attended by prominent Deltans from all walks of life.

The state Governor, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa who inspected a Guard of Honour at the event was also joined by several others to cut the 55th Independence Anniversary cake in Asaba.

Good Shepherd Catholic Boys Secondary School was thrown into celebration mood when the good news got to the school.

Reacting to the development of the school emerging the overall winner of the match past, the Principal of the school, Rev. Fr. Andrew Orogun, said he was not surprised that the school came first.

He said: We give thanks to God for the success of our Students in the independence celebration of our dear country. I am indebted to the Chief Inspector of Education, Isoko north LGA for the confidence reposed on our school, calling us to represent the Local Government in such a grand competitive Independence Celebration with the State Governor in attendance. To God be the glory and to us be the blessing.

“I am really not too surprised that our school took the first position in the competition. I am always confident of our Students ability. They are the best of their kind and we expect nothing less. We have very reliable and competitive staff that brings out the best in our students.

“May I state clearly here that we emphasize an all round formation of our students in curricular and extracurricular activities, which encompasses the three learning domains: Cognitive, affective and psychomotor.
