The national executive members of the Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSTCOM) producing oil and gas and the representatives of the nine oil producing states of Nigeria have paid a condolence visit to the family of the late national chairman of HOSTCOM, Chief Dr. Alfred Makaraba Bubor (JP) at his residence in Warri, Delta State yesterday.

The national vice chairman of HOSTCOM, High Chief Dr. Benjamin Style Tamaranebi who led HOSTCOM members to Chief Bubor’s family said that they have lost a visionary, vibrant and selfless leader who led the Association for 13 years.

Dr. Tamaranebi said that HOSTCOM has missed an icon, a father and amiable leader who made himself available during the struggle for recognition, registration of HOSTCOM and the actualization of 13% derivation fund for oil producing states in Nigeria.

He described late Chief Bubor as a true leader, astute, disciplined, committed, courageous who left behind a good legacy, stressing that they would continue with his good legacy and vision he had in HOSTCOM.

According to him “The family may have lost him but we feel the pain more because of the vacuum created by his death. He was a very determined and courageous leader. We want to be part of his burial arrangement and fully participate to give our department leader a befitting burial.”

Chief Tamaranebi urged the family to involve HOSTCOM in the burial of their leader as a way to show their last respect to hm.

In his word “Bubor has been leading us (HOSTCOM) since 2004 before he answered God’s cal. We want the family to let us know the burial plan. He has lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation. Even though he’s no more his spirit is with us. There is no regret. We want to pay our last respect to him. We will pay homage to the family during the burial ceremony, he added.

The members of HOSTCOM were warmly received by Mr. David Bubor the deceased first son who said he was delighted for the visit and the honour accorded the family, assuring that HOSTCOM would be informed and allow to participate in the burial of Chief Alfred Bubor.

The family spokesman, Mr. German Paul said that the family has not set up a burial committee and no date has been fixed.

“When we fix the burial date we shall inform HOSTCOM. We shall certainly include HOSTCOM in the burial arrangement” he added.
