…says vote for Sheriff is vote for aspirations of youths

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr Michael Tidi has urged youths in council area to cast their votes for all candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

Tidi made this call at a stakeholders meeting with various community chairmen, leaders and none indigenes in Warri South Council Area, held at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat, Warri.

Tidi said a vote for Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta State PDP Gubernatorial candidate, and all the State House of Assembly candidates in Saturdays election, is a vote for the aspirations of Warri South youths.

He said if Oborevwori becomes the Governor of the state he is going to ensure that Warri youths are included in the scheme of things.

While advising the youths not to cast their votes for the governorship candidate of the APC, Tidi during the meeting which was interactive in nature, warned that the governorship candidate of the APC does not have the interest of Delta youths at heart.

He said the only person that can bring the needed development the state needed, especially Warri, is Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that they should work together to ensure that PDP emerge victorious at the end of the day.

“We must tell ourselves the truth. What do we want in Delta State. What do we want in Warri South, because in the final equation, it is the development that comes to Warri South that we all need. We need electricity, good roads, quality education and other social amenities. And who can provide these basic amenities we are talking about. It’s only Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

“I want to urge all that we should deliver PDP in our respective wards and units in this Saturday election.

“You should know one thing, sheriff represents the aspirations of the youths. Sheriff is not coming to make you remain as thugs. He is coming to show you the right part for you to improve yourself,” Tidi said

The Warri South Council Chairman also urged the various Community chairmen to learn from the mistake of the last Presidential election and work for the victory of the PDP in the March 18 gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

He appealed to the community leaders to put their grievances behind and work as one to ensure that all candidates of the PDP are victorious come Saturday March 18.

While acknowledging that some of the leaders of party did not do enough during the last Presidential election, Tidi said it was no longer going to be business as usual as most leaders who did not do well will automatically fade away from the party.

He therefore urged the youth to do all they can to occupy the vacant positions that will be created by the exit of some of the leaders.

The Warri South Council Boss also assured the communities that adequate security would be put in place during the election to ensure free and fair elections in the council.

He warned those who plan to cause problems during the election to stay clear of the council, reminding them that the Presidential directive given to all security personnels concerning those who want to disrupt the elections, is still in existence.

He assured the people of the council that electoral materials will be distributed early during next Saturday election, saying that INEC has assured them that materials will be distributed on time.

“I want the community leadership to live and work side by side with all the political leaders in their communities. We believe that only one person cannot win elections in their units or wards. They need the support of others,” Tidi added.
