The Federal, State Governments and political leaders across the country have been implored to urgently tackle the economic hardships facing Nigerians in the midst of plenty.

A socio-political group, Elites For Good Governance (E4GG), in a statement signed by it’s National President, Ogie Swanson and issued yesterday noted that the masses of the country were going through harrowing experiences ranging from high costs goods and services that supposed to make life easy for them.

It stated that the appeal became necessary because of the high level and cost of living currently facing the entire people of the country as a result of some policies as well as actions and inactions of political leaders and stakeholders.

The group opined that most Nigerians are passing through untold hardship due to the harsh economic situation stressing that strategic efforts should be made to ensure food production and importations of rice and others into the country to ameliorate the suffering of the citizenry.

It stated that the economic situation is drastically affecting the livelihood of the people and called on the governments across all levels and political leaders to look inward, have a human face and put smiles on the faces of the people once again.

“Elites For Good Governance (E4GG) is hereby appealing to all national political stakeholders to come to the aid of the masses. The masses are what bring values and colours to the nation. The lifestyle of every citizen of any nation has a lot to pass to the world, either positively or negatively, and it is their economic abilities that have a high influence on the daily activities and behaviour”, it added.

The group noted that Nigerians were now facing serious economic challenges ranging from unstable prices of foodstuffs, unstable increment of school fees, high cost of living in school environments and high cost of fuel making life unbearable for the masses.

Reiterating that managing crime rates, political stabilities, social activities starts from the economic status of every nation, E4GG urged the political major players to urgently tackle the high costs of living to save an economic uproar in the country.
