Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State

DELTA State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan today said that the state government would soon go tough with those defacing the environment with illegal structures just as he promised to build befitting hostels for the College of Education, Warri.

Speaking today at the 19th Convocation ceremony of the College of Education, Warri, the Governor rained praises on the state Environment Commissioner, Mr Frank Omare for the recent removal of caravans and other illegal structures in Edjeba where the College is located.
According to him; ”Recently, when I passed through Edjeba, I was not pleased with what I saw and I told the commissioner to rid the area of the caravans and other illegal structures in the area and as I came into the College today, I was very happy with what I saw. The commissioner has done a very good job and I want him to keep up the good work he is doing in the state.”
The Governor then made it clear to people with caravans and other illegal structures in the state to remove for their own interest as offenders  will not be spared by government.
In his words; I want to appeal to our people to remove their caravans and illegal structures; we will prosecute you if you fail to remove them and if we have to remove them on our own, you will be fined by the state government, so do not allow government to remove them for you.”
Governor Uduaghan who frowned that students of the college were living in shatties, called hostels, expressed the determination of his government to build befitting hostels for the students before the end of his tenure and called on private sector to help in this regard as government, according to him cannot do it alone.
“I feel sad that students of this college are living in shatties, human beings should not live in such places because they are breeding ground for armed robbery and prostitution and that is not want we want for our students. Government  should build hostels for students and private individuals should help too. My administration will some hostels for the College of Education, Warri before we live office and move the students out of the shatties,” he said.
The governor assured workers in the state who were experiencing difficulties in getting their salaries that they would soon smile as the challenges were being tackled.
Governor Uduaghan stressed the need on teacher education, saying that; “Teacher education is the key to success and this administration will continue to encourage teacher education. Whatever we are spending on education is in the state is not wasted.”
