CORONATION: EDAIKEN KICKOFF PROCESSION IN GRAND STYLE

At about 12noon on Saturday October 8, in Benin City, the Edaiken N’ Uselu, HRH, Amb Eheneden Erediauwa the crown prince of Benin Kingdom, will take a foot procession following his departure from his ancestral home Eguae Edaiken Uselu to Oredo as part of the coronation activities to his Enthronement as the Oba of Benin Kingdom.
The procession ceremony which would see the Crown prince journey through major streets in the metropolis, will have him stop briefly at a sacred Palm Tree called ‘Udin Amamieson-aimiuwa’ whilst he intently arrives ‘Iya-akpan’ where Uselu Chiefs takes a bow and the Oredo Chiefs take over to lead him to Eko-Ohae where he will stay for three days and perform other private ceremonies.
The message of his coronation programme was conveyed in a press briefing held earlier today at the palace of the Benin Monarch to acquaint members of the public.
It will be recalled that the coronation activities was budged on September 8, with Thursday October 20, 2016 announced as the new date following the just concluded Edo election as the reason for the shift.
The Chairman of the Coronation Planning Committee, Professor Gregory Akenzua while divulging the information stated that it was imperative to notify all and sundry as the commencement of the coronation takes its toll.
‘’The main purpose of today’s briefing is to acquaint you will full details of the coronation programme which begins tomorrow October 8, 2016, ‘’said Prof. Akenzua.
While speaking further he noted that, the coronation sacrament continues when the Edaiken leaves Eko-Ohae for Usama October 10,2016 and also briefly head to ‘USE’ Village for the ceremony of choosing name.
Professor Akenzua stressed that during these periods, burial ceremonies are consequently prohibited; while adding that, at mid-night today, all commercial activities around the Eko-Ohae and Urho-kpota ceases until further notice.
