Felix Jeremia, Bayelsa

The People Democratic Party (PDP) non-working committee in Bayelsa State has lauded the peaceful co-existence among political parties in the state, stating that unity would engender transformation.

The committee’s Chairman Hon. Ikori Babudugu, in an interview with our correspondent at the party secretariat in Yenagoa, said the PDP was open for change and thus called on other parties to parley with them.

He said about sixteen political parties among which were the Labour Party, the All Nigeria Peoples party, and others with over 1,000 people, early this year, joined the PDP in Bayelsa.

The committee chairman described those who moved to the PDP as politicians with foresight, saying that they in the PDP were seeing the development as awesome and divinely planned.

According to him, the new members who had joined the PDP will hold the party dear to their hearts and that they will never make any u-turn.

He said glaringly that the PDP was a party of unity and differences could easily be solved among members without any bickering, just as he thanked the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon Henry Seriake Dickson for his various developmental projects in the state.

Also speaking, the state’s Assistant legal Adviser of the party Barrister Richard Tiebiri, said members have made up their mind for “a no-going back” for Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s second tenure.

He urged those who have joined the PDP to show their loyalty and work in unity with other party members for the president to win a second time.

Another politician who was with the ANPP, Mr. Fetiade Ayiebieme, said that their members would always be loyal to PDP which he described as “One big family not only in Bayelsa but in Nigeria as a Whole.”

According to Ayibieme, members of the PDP will continue to work for the party for the new Bayelsa. He urged the new members to join hands with the leadership of the state to move the party forward to an enviable height.
