We Wont Abandon Any Project … We Shall Work Within Available Resources – Okowa
By Our Correspondent
Delta State Governor, Senator Dr.Ifeanyi Okowa has assured that his administration will not abandon any project initiated by it.
Speaking to journalists after the inspection of on-going renovation and construction work at the Sapele Technical College on Wednesday, the governor explained that his government would, in line with available resources, complete projects initiated just as it will pay attention to those inherited from the previous administration.
According to him ” I think that the contractors are trying with the quality and pace of work going on here despite the challenges of the rain. We will not abandon any project but will ensure that they are completed, we have our financial forecasts”.
He observed that an amended Appropriation Bill of about 250 billion naira has been sent to the State House Of Assembly for approval to enable his administration work within a manageable and reasonable financial framework, explaining that the 2015 budget of 408 billion naira was not realistic given the present financial reality.
While stating that there was need to stabilize and manage the state resources prudently, Governor Okowa added that his administration has proper planning programmes which will enable it carry out all the projects within a limited time frame.
Senator Okowa said that his administration would improve on impacting technical knowledge to the students by employing teachers that would teach technical skills even if they would have to be part time basis.
