The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State suffered another mass defection from the party during the weekend as a former chieftain of the party, Chief Johnbull Efeoviri  from Ethiope East Local Government Area defected to the All Progressives Party (APC). He defected with his followers

Chief Efeoviri who decamped from PDP with his army of followers were  received by the APC Ethiope East Local Government Area Chairman, Pastor Stephen Eruotor, APC Kokori Ward 7 Chairman, Chief Jerome Emmanuel and other members of the party in Kokori.

Efeoviri who spoke immediately he was handed his APC membership card and the symbolic broom of the party said he is done with PDP because the party had nothing to offer to the people, adding that APC is the only party that can lead Delta State out of the present economic quagmire.

When asked why he decided to leave the PDP, Chief Efeoviri said he had to leave the PDP after he was abandoned by the party in the state after working very hard for the party during the 2015 general election.

The former staunch chieftain of the PDP said he delivered Kokori community for the PDP during the 2015 election, stressing that  he controls half of Kokori electorates. He added that now that he has decamped to APC, half of the electorate and his supporters have also decamped with him.

Chief Efeoviri said, I decided to leave PDP because I was marginalized. I am a leader in ward 6 and I worked for PDP for 8 years. I left and I came back again and during our congress we the four prominent members of the PDP voted for a particular candidate. But to our surprise, our candidate did not win the election.

If I decamped from PDP half of the community is gone and this included the women and youths. One of the things I love about APC that made me to join them is the fight against corruption by President Muhammadu Buhari. I love the way Buhari is fighting corruption. We have never seen any Nigerian President fighting corruption like the Buhari.

On his part, the APC Ethiope East Local government chairman, Pastor Stephen Oruotor who received Chief Efeoviri and his followers into the APC fold said that with the defection of Chief Efeoviri APC is certain to win the next general election come 2019.

He said, I am very happy that today we have somebody like Chief Efeoviri decamping from PDP to APC. I want to be the chairman that can deliver our local government and state to the APC. I do not want to be a chairman that does not win elections. Now that Chief Efeoviri has joined the APC we are going to win all elections and come 2019 APC is going to take over the state.

Those who witnessed the defection include; Hon. Chief Obukohwo J. Oshevire, former Delta State House of Assembly member representing Ethiope East Constituency, Chief Julius Ogboru, Alexander Imara, Prince Charles Ikpama and other chieftains of the party from Kokori.
