The Nigerian Police has vowed to fish out the killers of the Financial Secretary of Ekpan community, Comrade Abraham Edesiri Olomu, who was murdered in cold blood on Monday 27 in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to a credible police source who pleaded anonimity, the police are on top of the case and that they have credible information that will enable them rope the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

He said police are not resting on their ores to fish out criminal elements in Ekpan community, adding that the mighty hand of the law will soon catch up with them.

The police source warned all criminals in the state to stay clear from criminal activities as police has intensified efforts to rid the state off all criminal elements, vowing that very soon there will be no hiding place for criminals in the state.

On cult activities going on in all parts of the state, the police source warned that any cultist caught with arms will be charged to court for armed robbery, adding that anyone who hides under the guise of cultism to terrorise innocent citizens will be treated as an armed robber henceforth.

The police source also called on members of the public to help the police with information stressing that without information the police cannot do their work effectively.

He charged members of the public to be always vigilant and report any suspicious movements of persons around their areas to the police.

It would be recalled that Mr. Olomu was shot dead by suspected assailants on his way to the Ekpan Town hall an hour before his inauguration as the new chairman of the community.

The assailants attacked, stabbed and shot the deceased to death and he died before he was rushed to a private hospital in Ekpan.

According to a source, Olomu was said to received a mysterious phone call to an undisclosed location when he was shot by the suspected assailant near the Ekpan marrket.

Consequent upon the death of Comrade Olomu, One Mr. Sunday Leleji reportedly died over the shock of the death of the deceased.

The deaths caused serious tension in the community causing immediate postponement of the inauguration indefinitely.

Business activities were brought to immediate halt with movement cut off as angry youths started a burn-fire.

The timely arrival of security operatives restored normalcy but residents are still scared for fear of reprisal attack in the night.

Contacted, DSP Celestina Kalu, Police Public Relations Officer Delta State who expressed shock said, “‎Yes the incident occurred and the killers escaped before Police arrived, expended shell of ammunition were recovered. Our crack team are on their trail to unravel the killers.”
