The Vice President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Bishop Simeon Okah has denounced the news ascribed to him calling on the Buhari Federal Government to prosecute the former governor of Rivers State and present Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for corruption.

In a reaction signed by his media assistant, Jude Okechukwu and made available to journalists in Warri on Thursday, the clergyman denied labelling Amaechi as corrupt and should be prosecuted.

“It is not my place to label anyone as corrupt or otherwise, it is the court that should do that. And in the case under reference, I did not refer to Chibuike Amaechi as corrupt; I was obviously misunderstood and misinterpreted by media people who listened to me. It’s unfortunate.

“How can I possibly declare former Governor Amaechi corrupt and should be prosecuted? How can I make such declaration even if his political opponents have been alluding to such? Is that enough for me to dabble in and take a stand based on hearsay? I want to state categorically that I never made such statement to any audience or group of persons,” the cleric stated.

It will be recalled that some news outlets especially online media recently  came out with screaming headlines claiming that Bishop Okah, the Vice President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) called for the prosecution of the Minister of Transportation because he was said to be corrupt as governor of Rivers State by his political opponents, an accusation the former governor has repeatedly denied ascribing such accusations to those still bitter that he successfully led the APC to defeat former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election.
