In a more determined bid to rid the society of crime and criminality, the Edo State police Command have arrested 117-suspected syndicates over crime related offences between July and August 2015.

The disclosure was made known to newsmen during a press briefing held  at the State police Command Headquarters in Benin City.

It was however, gathered that within the period, 82 suspects were charged to court, 35 others paraded and 40 arms recovered for various degrees of offences committed by the alleged criminals, to mark the command’s achievement in the fight against crime.

Credible Evidences reveals that, the suspected criminals were said to have been intercepted and arrested at various locations within the state metropolis on armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, unlawful possession, murder, rape and Defilement with weapons ranges from cut-to-size-guns, cartridges, pump-action, AK 47 Riffles, single- barrels guns, double- barrel guns and mask caps.

Not done, also recovered from the syndicates were one Hundred vehicles with Reg. No. LSD -639 -BP, Nissan premera with Reg. No. BEN 920 FH, C-class Mercedes Benz with Reg. No. GWA 902 – FB, motor-cycle and several assorted phones.

Speaking while parading the alleged 35 criminals to press, the commissioner of police, CP, Sunday Adegbuye said it was imperative to comb every nook and crowning to reduce crime rate in the society as ember-month draws ever closer; adding that, the need for more collaboration between members of the press is not negotiable.

“The press briefing is expedient because the ember-month is around the corner. During this period, crime is always on the high side. That is why I am seeking the collaboration of the press with a view to have a crime free ember – month. However, the most pitiable crime amongst the 35 suspects paraded today is the 67- yr-old man who had carnal knowledge with a 10-yr-old girl which goes a long way to signal the level of crime in the society, “He said.

However, Mr. Felix Adebayo, 67, who allegedly defiled a 10-yr-old girl on reacting to his ills, attributed it to the devil, adding that he has committed sin against God and Humanity. Mr. Adebayo however, pleaded profusely for forgiveness.

In similar vein, one Nosakhare Omofomwan 53 was apprehended for having carnal knowledge of a 13-yr-old girl in a plantain farm at Etete Quarters in Benin City.

Others Also caught were listed as Osadolor Alfred 22, who lured 5-yr-old into his house and had carnal knowledge of; which incident took place at upper sakpoba and that of Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuma 18, arrested for unlawful having carnal knowledge of an 8-yr-old boy through his anus at Ekewuan Barracks.
