DBS WARRI AWARDS TO PROMOTE PRIVATE PARTICIPATION IN DEVT. OF THE STATE–OTERI

In a determined bid to promote hard work and selfless service as well as encourage humanitarian service, Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Warri has presented awards to some outstanding and deserving residents and reputable organisations in Delta State for their selfless and humanitarian service in the state.

Nineteen persons were presented with awards at the well attended ceremony.

It was an atmosphere of joy and conviviality as dignitaries from all walks of life converged to witness the maiden edition of the DBS Warri Public Service Award.

In his opening remarks, Pastor Malcom Oteri, General Manager, Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS),Warri said that the award ceremony which is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) of the station was to encourage private participation in the development of the State, noting that government cannot do it alone.

He congratulated the awardees who were nominated by the viewers and listeners of DRTV Warri and Melody FM for their selfless service and expressed confidence that it will spur them to do more, urging them to also extend their hands of fellowship to DBS Warri.

In his speech, Chief Bernard Edewor, chairman of the ceremony commended the media in Nigeria for it’s role in nation building, he commended Delta Broadcasting Service(DBS), Warri for it’s role in informing, entertaining and educating Deltans.

Chief Edewor noted that the award ceremony will encourage patriotism, hard work and selfless service in the state and called for it’s sustenance.

The Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo who is an awardee commended the management of DBS Warri for the initiative noting that it will spur him and others to do more as well as encourage humanitarian service.

Hon. Oneo noted that as Chairman of the House Committee on Information, he will continue to do his best to ensure excellent performance of the State owned media houses for proper disseminiation of information.

Other recipient thanked DBS Warri for the award and dedicated it to God.

Dr. Godwin Orhoadahwe, Media consultant and Educationist delivered a keynote address, titled, “The Media, Society and Security: An Inextricable Nexus for Sustainable Development” at the ceremony.

Those recognised are Chairman of Lee Engineering Group and Allied Companies Limited, Chief Leeman Ikpea, Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo, Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom Kalanama VIII, Chairman of Francon Sports, Nze Francis Onuora, Delta State Chairman of Special Marshal Department of Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Dickson Amromahwe and Director of Shamar Educational Foundation, Dr Onyi Ikemefuna.

Others are Dr Omawumi Urhobo, Chief Odet Eghrudjakpor, Dr Paul Okubor, Dr Victor Oraegbu, Evangelist S.O Olotu, Dr Luckys Okparayonte and Comrade Sheriff Mulade.

Hon Ramson Onoyake, McCarthy Ojiebor, Oghenejabor Ikimi, Chief Wilson Ejeben, Prof Teddy Idiabeta and Comrade Francis Obule were also honoured at the event.
