Alhaji Maitama Sule

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has commiserated with the government and people of Kano State over the death of two time Minister and Former Nigeria Permanent Representative to United Nation, Alhaji Maitama Sule who died on Sunday at an Egyptian hospital at 88 years.

In condolence statement issued in Asaba on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary Charles Aniagwu, Governor Okowa lauded the politician for his exemplary leadership and oratory qualities.

“Alhaji Maitama Sule was a leading statesman whose demise would be missed by all and sundry. He was a gifted Nigerian whose knowledge of the Kano emirate earned him the traditional title of Dan Masanin Kano”.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, we mourn the exit of a legend and elder statesman, Alhaji Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule who died at 88 at an Egyptian hospital in Cairo on Sunday.

He will be sorely missed as the first Umbudsman and former Nigerian Permanent Representative at the United Nations.

Governor Okowa prayed for repose of the soul of the late Elder Statesman and politician while commiserating with the family, the government and people of Kano State.
