Ember Month; Delta Police Assures Residents Of Peaceful Environment

The police under the Delta State Command on Monday assured residents of Warri and its environs of a safe and peaceful environment throughout the Ember months period.
The new Warri Area Commander, ACP Abubakar Argungun, who gave the assurance during his maiden visit to the B’ Divisional Police Station in Warri, said he would do everything humanly possible to ensure that the peace in Warri is sustained.
Addressing the officers and men of the division, Arugungun also called for a more robust and purposeful relationship with other security agencies for effective security service delivery.
He said that all the security agencies were working toward a common goal targeted at protecting lives and properties of the citizenry.
“Our relationship with the sister security agencies and the supportive agencies must be cordial. We must see ourselves as members of the same family targeted toward same goal of protecting lives and properties.
“I will soon be going round to visit the sister security agencies and the supportive agencies to ensure oneness and symbiotic relationship.
Arugungun urged the officers and men to always exhibit professional discipline in the discharge of their duties with the public.
“Be discipline in your conduct, to succeed as a policeman, you must have good relationship with the public.
Earlier, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), B Division, CSP Benjamin Igometi said that crime rate in the division had reduced due to the robust relationship between the Police and the Vigilante through effective information sharing.
Igometi, however, decried dearth in manpower and logistics including inadequate operational vehicles as major challenges confronting the Division.
“The Division is volatile with violent crime such as murder, defilement of minors, rape, robbery, cultism, stealing, burglary among others but since my arrival, proactive measure are emplaced to curb their excesses
“The Division is in dire need of manpower. In addition to the inadequate manpower, there are no enough serviceable vehicles for patrol,” he said.
Also, Mr Prosper Ojo, Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Delta chapter assured the new Warri Area Commander of the committee’s maximum support.
