DESOPADEC Donates Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Isoko nation

In a bid to fulfill its earlier promises of supporting the flood victims in the two IDP Camps in Isoko nation, the DESOPADEC team led by it MD, Chief Askia Ogieh and the Commissioner Representing Isoko Ethnic Nationality on the board of DESOPADEC, Dr. Paul Oweh, has provided relief materials to people who were displaced from their homes by the ravaging flood.

The internally displaced persons, IDPs who are camped in Alaka Secondary School, Ozoro, Isoko North Local Govt and Emede Grammar School, Emede, Isoko South Local Government respectively received the materials amidst jubilation and fanfare.

While presenting the relief materials to the victims, the Managing Director of DESOPADEC Chief Askia Ogieh commended the State Governor saying “government is one. Whatever we do here, is from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”

“I urge you all to remain strong and hopeful in this challenging moment as very soon the flood would recede. But ours is to ensure that you are happy, while you are here.”

On his part, the Commissioner representing Isoko Ethnic Nationality, Dr Paul Oweh had earlier on in his speech commended the Delta State Government led by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for being so magnanimous in service by his swift response to the challenges of the people.

He said whatever DESOPADEC was doing was just to compliment the state government effort as an interventionist agency, saying that the state government has been responsible for the care of the people since the camps were opened.

His words, “recall we were here yesterday to assess your needs and we promised to come back. Today, we are here to provide you with some materials to support you while you are here.

“We must thank our governor, His Excellency Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his magnanimity and swift response to put up the camps and for taking care of you in terms of feeding and medical care. Ours as an interventionist agency is to compliment the effort of the state government.

“We will continue to support you until the flood recedes and you are resettled back to your homes,” he said.

Dr. Oweh further urged the camp commandant to ensure the materials brought are judiciously utilised to the benefit of the IDPs, adding that DESOPADEC will continue to support in any possible areas.

While congratulating those who delivered babies in the camps, he appealed to the medical team to pay special attention to the children and the over 150 pregnant women in both camps.

Also the Isoko North Local Government Chairman, Hon Emmanuel Egbabor commended the State Government led by Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the DESOPADEC team for the kind gestures, just as he urge the Camp commandant to ensure that the items are well use to satisfy the peoples needs.

Materials presented in each of the camps include 100 mattresses, 35 bags of rice, 5 bags of beans, assorted food items, including vegetable oil, a cow amongst others. A set of baby kit containing baby bath, clothes and baby cosmetics and cash gift of fifty thousand naira was given to mothers who delivered in the camps.

The camps commandants in a vote of thanks appreciated the state government and thanked the DESOPADEC team for the support.
