The people of the Southern part have been called upon to support presidential candidate from the South in the 2023 general elections.

This call was made by Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, Delta State bgovernirship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) at a media briefing held in his country home, Oginibo Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

Olorogun Gbagi said, “I will support presidential candidate from the South, I do not know how to pretend. I urged the Southerners to support the shift of government from the North to South based on the principle of equity.”

According to him, “we believe in one Nigeria and I do not hate the North. Anything that will scuttle the shift of governance to the South for eight years and back to the North for another eight years is unacceptable.”

The Delta State governorship candidate the SDP disclosed that this was the first time he would appear on the ballot paper assuring that he would win the election come 2023.

Olorogun Gbagi, former chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta stressed that his decision to leave the party was not to divide votes as being insinuated in some quarters adding that actions of some of the gladiators of the PDP made him to defect to the SDP.

He spoke further, “I want to be on the ballot paper and let God decide my faith at the poll. I am running under the SDP and for your information, this is the first time in my life I will be running an election in any political party.”

The former Minister of State of Education added, “I am competent and that is why I want to prove my worth at the ballot.
Among the gladiators wanting to be governor in Delta State now, I am their senior brother in the profession of politics. I am the only one who has served Nigeria at the cabinet level of the Federal Government.”

Responding to a question on the structure of SDP in Delta, State, Olorogun Gbagi said that the 2023 general elections would not be based on structures noting that the electorate would vote for leaders that would guarantee the future of their children.

The Delta State SDP governorship hopeful said that he would work with the youth, pensioners and others that meant well for the state.

He assured that when voted as governor, he would revive ailing industries in the state to generate employment and increase the revenue base of the state.

According to the former Minister of State for Education, other areas of focus would be: education, health, pensioners among others.
