Delta State Government has paid three months salary arrears to 1200 newly recruited Environmental Marshals in 10 pilot towns in the state.

Speaking at Ughelli and Warri, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare, allayed the fears of the marshals who were of the view that the recruitment was political.

Represented by Assistant Director for Sanitation and Waste, Mr. Victor Efeturi, Omare urged the Environmental Marshals to take their jobs seriously as the government was committed to their welfare and empowerment of youths in the state.

While addressing the Marshals in the Warri office of the Ministry of Environment, Omare said the state government has invested heavily in the empowerment of youths in the state in order to reduce poverty and make life meaningful for them.

He stressed that the aim of the governor is to ensure that a clean and healthy environment, adding that it’s only by their commitment and effectiveness that they can ensure clean environment in their areas of operation as that would help government to sustain the scheme.

According to him, no Marshal that shunned his or her duty post would be spared, urging all Marshals to comply with the state sanitation laws as the Governor is committed to the development of youths.

He added that “we are using this opportunity to tell all Deltans that we hve what it takes to transform every youth to a better person and also commended the state government for empowering the youths in this 10 pilot towns.

The 10 pilot towns include Asaba, Agbor, Ozoro, Ughelli, Udu, Ogbe-Ijoh, Uvwie, Warri, Sapele and Oghara.
