Texaco Nigeria Outer Shelf Limited (TENOS, a Chevron company) and NNPCL Upstream Investment Management Services Limited (NUIMS) has inaugurated a road project in Urhobo College in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The road project, constructed by the firm was inaugurated on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 and handed over to the management of the Urhobo College amid jubilation.

In his address of welcome, Mr Bobby Hulett, the Director, Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, lauded the robust synergy between the company and the Delta State government.

Hulett, represented by Mr Rilwanu Momodu, Chevron’s Area Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA), Field Operations noted that the project would further speed up the quality of learning in the college.

“The immense partnership we have enjoyed with the people and government of Delta State contributed greatly to the success of the project being handed over today. We deeply appreciate this support.

“Today’s event is a proof of the TENOS parties’ determination to improve the quality of education in Nigeria,” he said.

Hulett urged staff and students of the school to make judicious use of the road project.

On his part, the Group General Manager (NUIMS), Mr Bala Wunti encouraged the staff and students of the college to make judicious use of the road for the benefit of the school.

Wunti, represented by Mrs Edith Lawson said that NNPCL and TENOS parties remained deeply committed to improving the quality of education in the country.

“We will continue to invest in the educational sector through the provision of various infrastructure including roads and other identified needs to educational institutions.

“In furtherance of this goal, the NNPCL and TENOS parties have also executed laboratory projects, hybrid libraries and model classroom blocks across Delta State.

“NNPCL and partners have awarded over 7000 scholarships to various categories from secondary school to post graduate studies across the federation both local and overseas.

“This road project is another testimony of our tradition of care and commitment by the NNPCL and TENOS parties for the social development of our country, improving the lives of Nigerians and the Host Communities in particular,” Wunti said.

Also, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, represented by his Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mr Emma Ambgaduba commended the company for the project and promised to continue to provide enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“You can replicate this in all the three Senatorial districts in the state and as a government, we will continue to provide you a conducive atmosphere to operate,” he said.

Chief Patrick Okoto, the Unuevboro of Okpe who spoke on behalf of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, commended the firm and prayed God to continue to uplift it.

He urged the students and school management to utilise the project to encourage the company to do more for them.

In her remark, the Principal of Urhobo College, Mrs P. Awusi expressed gratitude for the project and prayed God to continue to bless the company.
