COVID-19: OEF HARPS ON NEED TO BE CAUTIOUS

The Federal Government has been called upon to be more cautious and proactive in their bid to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.

This call was made by Chief Joseph Ogaga Ogunje, President General, Oghara Elite Forum (OEF),foremost socio- cultural group in Oghara Kingdom, Ethiope West Local Government Area in a statement made available to Reformer Online, he said that there is the urgent need for the state and Federal Government to ensure that there are more testing centres closer to the people with a view for them to know their status.

Chief Ogunje called on the Federal Government to ensure that palliatives being given out goes round saying that it would be improper to give it out along party lines, he noted that the lockdown ordered is making hunger to bite harder among the people.

He commended Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta state for the steps so far taken by his administraton to curtail the spread of the disease saying that his actions so far has made the state to record zero until last Tuesday when an index case was recorded.

Chief Ogunje noted that the singular act of springing into action immediately tracing/tracking of people who had contact with the index case, addressing Deltans on current situation ordering of more stricter compliance to the lockdown order by his administraton is commendable which goes to show that he has the interest of his people at heart.

According to Chief Ogunje, “I want use this opportunity to call on our good people of Oghara to adher strictly to laid down standard hygiene process of washing of hands with soap, use of sanitizers and social distancing. I am also pleading that we obey the lockdown ordered by the Delta State Government, it’s for our benefits.”

He added, “I must commend our Governor, Dr. Okowa for setting up the food bank and the proactive steps he took when Delta State recorded her index case last Tuesday, he has been on his toes with the committee set up for this purpose. My commendation also goes to the medical personnel for their selfless service to humanity.”

He then cautioned the Federal Government to be careful in her planned move to bring in Chinese doctors who arrived the country last Wednesday saying, that due processes should be followed before allowing them to commence work in the country.
