COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF TOWN HALL MEETING ORGANIZED BY THE DESOPADEC COMMISSIONER –  SIR CHIEF (DR.) AMOS ITIHWE JP, WITH  STAKEHOLDERS OF HIS MANDATE AREA (UGHELLI SOUTH, UDU, UVWIE, AND URHOBOS OF WARRI SOUTH) IN THE BOARD OF DESOPADEC ON 29TH AUGUST, 2016 AT THE OKPARE CIVIC CENTRE, OKPARE-OLOMU, UGHELLI SOUTH LGA, DELTA STATE.

At the end of the well attended Stakeholders’ Meeting, the following resolutions were reached:

  1. Sir Chief (Dr.) Amos Itihwe was commended for his steadfast commitment to the development of his mandate area
    2. Sir Itihwe’s commitment in putting God first was appreciated.
    3. The dwindling economy has drastically reduced allocation to the state which on the long-run has equally affected DESOPADEC
    4. Presently, DESOPADEC is operating on a zero allocation which has slowed down the activities of the commission.
    5. An appeal was made to Militant Youths to stop destruction of oil facilities so that, the state and nation can bounce back economically and improve infrastructural development of the oil and gas producing communities.
    6. Stakeholders appreciated DESOPADEC through the office of the Commissioner representing Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and Warri South – Sir (chief) Dr. Amos Itihwe for the construction of Okobaro of Ughievwen Palace in Ughelli South LGA, rehabilitation of Ubogo Ogbe-Udu road in Udu LGA, commissioning of Six Class room block at Otor-Udu Secondary School and
    Civic Centre at Otor Udu in Udu LGA.
    7. The Unique Magazine and Amos Itihwe Foundation (www.amositihwefoundation.com) were unveiled during the stakeholders meeting – all geared towards promoting the SMART agenda of his Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
    8. The programs of the foundation includes:
    v Skills training
    v Scholarship
    v Agriculture .
    9. The governor was commended for his development strides so far in the State which include:
    v Human Capital Development
    v Infrastructural Development
    v Security of Lives and Properties of the electorates
    v Peace and Security through the Traditional Institutions
    v Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, etc.
    10. A bye-pass will be constructed to ease the traffic gridlock along the NPA Express-way due to the activities of Tanker Drivers
    11. The Palace of Ovie of Udu Kingdom to be completed in less than a year through partnership with private companies as the dwindling economy is slowing down the release of funds meant for the project.
    12. More attention to be given to the Urhobos of Warri South in the area of infrastructural development
    13. Chief Barr. Moses Odibo moved a motion for a vote of confidence on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, DESOPADEC and Sir Amos Itihwe. The motion was supported by Barr. Edewor Omonemu which was unanimously adopted by the general house with a rousing ovation of applause and a voice vote.
    14. Appreciation was extended to the governor for attending the town hall meeting in a representative capacity and other host of attendees including traditional rulers, community president generals, executives of host communities, clerymen, government functionaries, party leaders and sponsors of the town hall meeting.
