The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), has joined millions of Nigerians across the country to congratulate General Mohammadu Buhari, the President-elect in the just concluded presidential elections.

The group made this known in a press statement signed by its Coordinator/CEO, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, and made available to our correspomdent.

CEPEJ lauded General Buhari for his tenacity in the race after losing in three previous attempts at ruling the country.

Mulade said: “Congratulatory messages have continued to trail the victory of All Progressive Congratulation (APC) in the March 28, Presidential polls. Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), has joined Nigerians and groups across the country and outside to congratulate the winner of the polls, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).”

Comrade Mulade, thumbed up general Buhari for his commitment and focus in maintaining his opposition stance, saying this shows that ‘’everything is possible with perseverance and doggedness’’.

He urged General Buhari to run an all-inclusive and open door administration, advising him to re-introduce the war against indiscipline and also declare  a ‘’state of emergency’’ on corruption as according to him, no meaningful development can take place in a society riddled with corruption as ours.

Comrade Mulade, urged General Buhari to obliterate the plea bargain introduced by corrupt and greedy politicians to subvert the course of justice, commending President Goodluck Jonathan for displaying the spirit of good sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of the polls and acknowledging General Buhari as the winner of the tensed   presidential contest.

He described the President as the hero of democracy who is worth celebrating for providing a level playing field for his opponent in the race.

He CEPEJ CEO also extolled the national electoral umpire,Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a credible,free and fair elections and advised the Commission to ensure that the governorship and State Assembly polls follow the same trend with a view to deepening the democratic process.
