There is urgent need for the Federal Government to send the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) packing out of Delta State and from the country, for their gross distribution of power supply.

No country can develop without electricity. Electricity is one of the most critical amenities required for any State or country to attain desired development that would benefit its people. The country cannot develop by mere wishful thinking. But the BEDC have demonstrated not to have the capacity and capability to distribute power in their areas of coverage, which includes Delta State. We have never had it bad in power distribution in Delta State, like we currently have under BEDC.

There is therefore the urgent need for BEDC license to be suspended and withdrawn with immediate effect by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Federal Government should promptly takeover and temporary manage the distribution of power in Delta State until they get a capable and competent replacement of a Power Distribution Company. This is the only solution we believe that would permanently address this complaint.
