The Bayelsa state House of Assembly Quarters penultimate week was full of funfair as the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Southern Ijaw Federal constituency for the 2019 election, Rt.Hon Konbowei Benson on Monday hosted great number of clergy over one thousand in attendance in the epoch making event..

Speaking at the event tagged “special Dinner” guest speaker and General Overseer, Royal House of Grace International church, Apostle David Zilly Aggrey commended the speaker for choosing to celebrate with the clergy.

Aggrey Cautioned against seeking power through diabolic means, emphasizing that without preference for God in leadership, failure and disappointment is inevitable.

The guest speaker who also doubles as the chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), River State Chapter berated those in positions of authority who do not give the clergy courtesy treatments, describing Benson as a role model.

The general overseer of the Royal House of Grace said because the speaker has accorded the church of Christ an unprecedented honour, God will uplift him, maintaining that the Christian church has not honoured the invitation to the dinner because they are poor or lack, but due to the speaker’s antecedents of consulting the church even in governance.

In remarks, the chief host and speaker, Konbowei Benson thanked the Christian family for standing by him and the Governor Seriake Dickson’s administration.Benson is the longest serving speaker in the democratic history of Bayelsa State.

According to the number one lawmaker in the state, the reason for gathering the clergy in his Yenagoa Assembly residence for the celebrations was borne out of his desire to give thanks and appreciation to God in the presence of those who have been interceding on his behalf and the state.

The speaker recalled that there was a time in his leadership position when he was on a crossroad, but according to him through the intervention of the clergy with prayers such escalating leadership crises were resolved.

The speaker said, “the spirit of God ordered me to have dinner with the men of God, I know there are Egyptians, but Apostles, because of your invocation, no Jupiter can touch the lion of the tribe of Judea.”

According to the national assembly hopeful, the rationale behind the event was not to buy the consciences of the clergy, but that it was due to the uncommon grace in his life since he has been in government, hence the celebration.

Also speaking, Rev father Joseph Opelema, he advised politicians and those in public offices to seek for God’s direction as power comes from God. Opelema noted that when God has promoted anyone, the needful thing to do is to thank and appreciate Him for his grace and favour.

The special dinner has in attendance Christians and clergy from all the blocks of the Christian association of Nigeria (CAN) just as awards and souvenirs where also given to attendees who where full of gratitude singing songs of praises in heralding the great event, which they described as first in history.
