The new commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Mr. Paul E. Okafor in his bid to have close ties with other security agencies, recently visited the Commander Joint Military Task Force, Major General Emmanuel Jebe Atewe, code name (Opulo shield).

The Commander of JTF Major General Atewe, while welcoming the  commissioner of Police and his entourage, thanked and welcome the
visitors wholeheartedly, stressing the strong determination of JTF to
work closely with the Police in the security of lives and property in
Bayelsa State, describing the CP as a rare breed Nigerian, highly
detribalized, a generational bridge builder, a calm and quiet
achiever, an administrator per excellence, a philanthropist, who has
created a niche for himself in the area of security, a man he has
known for several years.

Major General Atewe, highlighted some of his salient achievements of
JTF on his assumption of office as commander, such as the arrest of
several oil pipe line vandals, destruction of illegal refineries among
others.

Compol, in his considered opinion while presenting his address said
that it is only through the synergy of the Police and other security
agencies that can reduce crime rate to it barest minimum in Bayelsa
State and Nigeria at large.

Compol further stressed the need for more aggressive technology driven
intelligence gathering and surveillance procedures to be able to detect and prevent attacks, especially, curtailing pipe lines vandalism, oil thief, sea piracy and kidnapping, and the host of
others.

Also, the commissioner of police, Mr. Paul E. Okafor paid courtesy call on the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency Bayelsa State (NDLEA) Barr. Mrs. Josephine Obi, the State coordinator of (NDLEA) commended the commissioner of Police for the visit, where the two leaders solidified working strategies in heralding the new dawn of security of lives and property, noting affirmative inter agency collaborative effort, stressing that NDLEA cannot work alone, while appreciating the compol and management team of the great visit.

High point of the August visit in March was the signing of the visitors registers and taking of group photographs of the CP and entourage and the JTF commander and sector management team and the NDLEA, which was a galore of fan-fare, signifying closer working relationship.
