Delta NUJ election: Ikeogwu dedicates victory to God
Chairman of the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, has dedicated his reelection victory at the recently concluded election to God.
Comrade Ikeogwu and his Executive members during a Thanksgiving service held at Mega Praise Church of Christ International, in Sapele Local Government Area of the state, urged his opponents and all members of the union to join him in building a greater NUJ.
Comrade Ikeogwu in a remark during the service said the election that saw him reelected for a second term was fierce with all manner of campaign of calumny.
He said, “We want to give God the glory that throughout this period, nobody died. Nobody had accident, nobody was kidnapped, nobody was robbed. We give God the glory for all that He has done for us. It is by his grace alone that we were elected and not by human efforts. We give him praise. We give him adoration.”
Comrade Ikeogwu who was flanked by Comrade Salvation Ogono, Comrade Felix Ekwu, Comrade (Mrs.) Joy Mordi and Comrade Celestine Afokobah, Vice Chairman, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Auditor respectively also used the medium to thank members of the Union for joining them in the Thanksgiving service.
General Overseer of Mega Praise Church of Christ International, Hon.(Evang.) Michael Diden a.k.a, Ejele, prayed for the members of the NUJ as they begin to pilot the affairs of journalists in the state for the next three years.
The NUJ Exco and its members were later hosted to a lavish reception by the General Overseer at his compound in Sapele.
The new NUJ Exco were elected and subsequently sworn into office on October 6.
