FIRE OUTBREAK: TEARS OF JOY AS GOVERNOR OKOWA VISITS VICTIMS AT OTORHO ABRAKA

… Residents hail Governor Okowa’s quick intervention

Tears of joy flowed on the faces of the devastated victims of the recent fire outbreak at Otorho Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, just as the residents hail the State Governor, His Excellency Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his quick intervention.

The inferno which happened to be mysterious, according to victims happened on Monday 19th February 2019, burnt down a building apartment and valuables.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Ernest Ogwezzy, sympathized and gave the victims a ransom to overcome their challenges temporary.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, who led the state government’s delegation was accompanied by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the honourable member representing Ethiope East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Evance Ochuko Ivwurie to the venue.

Mr. Ogwezzy expressed profound gratitude to God that no life was lost and thanked the people in the neighbourhood for their cooperation, assuring that the Governor is a caring Governor. I believe in no distance time, the Governor will ameliorate the sufferings and pains of these victims, saying that “they should keep faith in supporting this present administration of His Excellency Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa”.

He cautioned residents to be vigilant and avoid any act that could lead to fire outbreak, especially in this period of dry season.

Speaking at the scene of the incident, the honourable member representing Ethiope East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly said, “The fire outburst was a big disaster. Immediately I got the news of the inferno I came to commensurate with the family of about 22 and felt it was necessary to draw the attention of the State Governor and upon receiving the call, the Governor sent his Commissioner for Special Duties barely 24 hours to sympathise with the victims’ family”.

Honourable Ivwurie, said “I feel elated for the quick response of the Governor. I am proud to be a member of the Delta State Government and also thank the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Ernest Okwezzy for responding timely”.

“You can see the people are already grateful. We are telling the Governor that the people of Otorho Abraka in Ethiope East are grateful for his magnanimity, care and support to the family, describing him as a good and kind-hearted Governor. We want to thank His Excellency so much, for who much is given much is expected,” Hon. Ivwurie also said.

Hon. Ivwurie thanked the residents for their support, cooperation in giving succour to their fellow brothers in terms of accommodating and feeding while appealing to the public to take precautionary measures and be vigilant to avert further fire outbreak in the state.

Reacting to the development, Chief Engr. William Akora, President General of the area, cheered the Governor for his presence and show of concern, expressed delight at the commitment exhibited by the State Emergency Management Agency for coming to their rescue.

Another resident who is one of the victims, Mr. Idugu Oghenero said: “We are very grateful to God for saving us from this fire incident. We equally thank our Governor Ekwueme, for sending SEMA to come and commensurate with us. You can see, nobody died. It’s the building and our important documents/valuables that got burnt. May God bless and grant our Governor his heart’s desire. Also our workaholic Honourable Evance Ivwurie for working in hand with the Governor to bringing the dividends of democracy to Ethiope East Local Government Area.

The victims who could not hold back their tears of joy, promise to vote for all People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Candidates. They also prayed for the Governor and Honourable’s re-election in 2019.
