APC WILL SWEEP DELTA POLLS COME 2015 – BODJOR
Francis Sadhere
The Vice Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State, Olorogun Adelabu Ejiroghene Bodjor has said that come 2015 APC is going to sweep all the polls in the state, just as he described the recent clean-up of Warrri and its environs by the Delta State Government as inhuman.
Olorogun Bodjor, who spoke to our correspondent recently in Warri said APC was ready to take on the ruling party, PDP, come 2015, adding that APC had mapped out plans to take over power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said the while people were busy going about saying they do not have structures in place, the APC was busy putting strong structure in place and strengthening their party.
The Delta State APC Vice Chairman said that the party was made up of persons who were practicing the norms of democracy and that they have seasoned politicians as their leaders.
He described the recent APC congress in Delta State as the most peaceful congresses he had ever witness, noting that throughout the congress there was peace and decorum as party members comported themselves in an orderly manner.
Speaking on the party’s congress held in Delta State, Olorogun Bodjor said that those who say the congress were fraught with irregularities should come out and provide evidence showing that the congress held in the state was fraught with irregularities.
He said that all those that bought forms for various positions in the party were at the congress, stressing that nobody was left out in the congress and that the congress was free and fair.
He said; “My party is a wonderful party. It is a party that is made up of those who practice the norms of democracy. When the timetable for the congresses came out, starting from the wards down to the states, every democratic tenet was observed. Every candidate went through the due process of selection because you have to buy you nomination form to show you commitment. Positions are thrown on you. You buy a form fill it and return it.”
He stressed that APC was ready to participate in any election that was going to hold in Delta State, adding that the party was fully on ground to give the ruling party a run for their money.
He wondered why some of the party members were raising issues bothering only on Delta state Congress, saying that the congress did not start from Delta State.
Particularly, Olorogun Bodjor stressed that the era of ballot snatching was over in Nigeria, adding that the APC was fully prepared to drive the electoral process legitimately.
My party, the APC is purely Democratic Party. We believe in democratic tenets, we believe in politics without bitterness, we believe in one man one vote and we believe that when people vote, their votes should count. In 21st century Nigeria, the era of ballot box snatching is over, dead and gone. The era of ambush voting is dead and gone. we know that INEC are doing their best, but on our own we are fully prepared to drive the electoral process legitimately as it ought to be, and we are very sure that APC will carry the day at the end of all the elections.
Speaking on the issue of the recent clean up exercise by the Delta State Government, Olorogun Bojo said it was a welcome development, but faulted the way and manner it was carried out.
He said the timing was wrong and the way they were going about destroying people’s property without enough notice was inhuman, adding that should have given the people enough time to resettle or relocate.
He said; “There are certain decisions that are right but the timing could be wrong. The question that comes to mind is what is the economic situation today in Delta State? How much have we done to better the lives of the average Deltan in request for the hyper cleanliness that we are talking about and that will make us bring down even beautiful attachments? These are the means of livelihood of the people that we are talking about. I think one should have given a very reasonable time. Issue a removal notice of not less than six months to enable these persons re-settle. It is unreasonable and unfair.”
He therefore, advocated that those whose goods were destroyed along with their caravan should be given compensation to enable them restart their businesses again.
Commenting on the way and manner the Federal Government was handling the kidnap of the female students; Olorogun Bojo said that the issue should not be politicized and that what should be upper most in the mind of President Jonathan was how to rescue the girls from the grip of the dreaded Boko Haram.
On the issue of the legislators that defected to APC recently, Olorogun Bojo described the stand of the Federal Government on them as laughable, stressing that it had been the practice ever since, wondering why they were making an issue out of it.
“This is laughable because in the years passed, legislators have decamped from other parties to PDP and the heaven did not fall. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. Even up this moment, people are still busy decamping from other parties to PDP. What will happen to them both at the senate and the house of representative and then at the state houses of assemblies it happens every day.
