HEARTY APPRECIATION TO DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT, SENATOR OVIE OMO-AGAGE OVER THE BILL PASSAGE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, OROGUN
It is not in my tradition to praise Nigerian Politicians who do what they were elected to do in office, but I think it is necessary for me to commend and appreciate the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who sponsored the bill titled “Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State (Establishment Etc.) Bill,” which have led to The Senate’s passage of the said bill into law, pending the assent by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege needs to be commended for making it possible within this short space of time to have made these achievements for the people he is representing.
He could have pursued monetary gains for himself and family, but he chose to contribute meaningfully well for the human capital development for his people that he is representing.
This is another great milestone by Senator Ovie Omo-Agage, towards the upliftment of human capital development in Delta State, within a short period of time.
First was the establishment and signing into law of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Ugbomro. And now, just between the space of six months, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has scored another point in Delta State’s tertiary education sector, with the sponsor and passage of the Bill establishing the Federal Polytechnic at Orogun. When signedby President Buhari, it would bring to existence the first conventional Federal Polytechnic to be established in Delta State.
Aside the fact the said bill spent just 10 weeks on the floor of the Senate, having been read for the first time on October 8, 2019, we also Congratulate the Deputy Senate President for having been able to make this mark, which will outlive his time in office, and would always be remembered by the people of Delta State.
We ask that such laudable efforts towards the establishment of other infrastructural projects in Delta State, should continually be the focus of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
In this regard, we equally ask Senator Ovie Omo-Agage, to support our long time agitation on the full establishment/upgrade of the Osubi Airstrip near Warri into a Standard International Airport that can accommodate bigger aircrafts, which will make the airport more commercially functional and profitable. The land for the said expansion/upgrade of the Osubi Airstrip runway is already there, which was acquired by Shell and divested to OML 30 Operators. All that is required is for the Federal Government to take it over and upgrade it to an international Standard Airport. I have been on this agitation since 2003 and still counting, and also the development of the Okwagbe deep Sea Port, all within Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s Delta Central Senatorial constituency.
