The traditional ruler of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun 11, Aketekpe Agadagba  has urged the Federal Government not to bask in the euphoria of relative peace in the Niger Delta to forget that there are demands to be implemented.

The monarch who spoke Wednesday at Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, during a ceremony marking his first coronation anniversary, tasked the federal government to urgently embark on the implementation of the demands of the Niger Delta people.

He warned that government should not just celebrate the new found relative peace and the high crude oil production in the area now but should also give attention to numerous problems confronting the people of the region.

He however thanked God for sparing the life of President Muhammadu Buhari and prayed that God would continue to see him through.

He also commended him for sending Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to engage the people of the region towards finding a lasting solution to the problems of the area.

“The visit of the vice-president was an eye opening one as it gave him the opportunity to see things for himself in the region.

“We are faced with many problems in the region as contained in the various addresses presented to him during the visit.

“The government should not just celebrate the relative peace and the high crude oil production in the area now but also give attention to the numerous problems confronting the people.

“It is a good thing the president mandated the vice-president to lead the peace process in the region,” the monarch added.

Pere Ogoba therefore encouraged Osinbajo to fast-track the process by implementing the short and medium term goals as well as draw up plans to develop the Niger Delta region.
