The Consultative Assembly of the Obidient Movement has adopted the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, as their consensus candidate for the March 11 governorship election.

The group, in a statement signed by Udofia Victory, Pastor Daniel Agbroko, Omotuwou Onovirakpo and four others, and made available to journalists in Warri, said they decided to adopt Senator Omo-Agege because he was the most generally accepted candidate for the election.

They therefore, called on all the Obidients in Delta State to come out and vote for the APC in the governorship election, on Saturday March 11,2023.

The Obidients Movement is an amalgam of independent social movements, political pressure groups, faith based organizations, youth based organizations, women/market associations, the academic, artisans, student union governments and community based organizations, professional associations and diaspora etc.

According to the group, represented by the leaders and coordinators of the 63 groups that constitutes the Delia State Chapter of the Obidient Movement, after a meeting held in Warri, the support for Omo-Agege was also because he has exuded high sense of responsibility, commitment to critical duties and strong attachment to community service, infrastructure and human capital development.

“That his competence, expenence and dynamism informed our decision on the APC governorship candidate. His impressive background as an acute infrastructural and human capital development inspired and motivated the Obidients Movement in Delta State.

“That the Deputy Senate President captured in his ‘Edge Agenda’ a clear picture of how his administration will bring about the ideals of good governance. This automatically brings us to the same ideological path,” the group stated.

They also noted that for the past 24 years, all ethnic nationalities in Delta State have been voting for the PDP in all election cycles, adding that “we saw how dismally they performed in these many years. That PDP cannot be scored high when the volume of manies accrued monthly from the Federation Account as allocations and 13% derivation is considered.”
