Warri South Council boss, Dr Micheal Tidi on Thursday appealed to Deltans to re-elect governor Ifeanyi Okowa, saying that the governor has done wonderfully well to deserve a second tenure.
Dr Tidi who made this appeal during the inauguration of Warri South People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ward campaign committee coordinators, said the only way the people of the state could appreciate what Governor Okowa has done for them so far, was for them to vote him into power again in next general election
Dr Tidi said, “Today I can tell you today that our youths are becoming self-sufficient in agriculture, tailoring and other businesses. Today I have a welder in my house who has acquired this skills all thanks to governor Okowa. Before now it was not fanciful to see our youths going into these businesses.
“I don’t want to talk about political appointments because Governor Okowa has empowered the women and youths in the state. Even the traders are not left alone. This is why you see the traders leaving their market today to come and grace this occasion.”
He also said that governor Okowa was the first governor in the state to start giving traders money to assist the increase their businesses, describing the President Muhammadu Buhari trader money being shared to market women today as vote buying.
“PDP in Delta State started the trader money by given traders money to improve their wares. It is not the traders money APC is using to buy votes today. For all these I will say Okowa has done well,” the Warri South Council boss said.
He added that Delta State, especially, Warri South, are very appreciative people who they know how to pay back the good that has been done to them.
“I want to reassure you that they are going to come out enmass to vote all the six candidates we are putting forward in this election.
“We are starting with the Presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar, Delta gubernatorial candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta senatorial candidate, Senator James Manage, House of Representatives candidate Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Delta State House of Assembly candidate representing Warri South Constituency 1, Austin Oroye and Delta State House of Assembly candidate for Warri South constituency 2, Mathew Opouro,” Dr Tidi said.
Earlier, Warri South PDP leader, Dr Joseph Otumara had accused President Buhari of allegedly deceiving the people when he told the whole world that he was only going for one term.
Dr Otumara said, “Buhari told the whole world when he was campaigning that he will serve for only one term. Now he is going for a second term. We should not vote people like that who cannot keep to their promise into office of power.”
Chairman, Delta South PDP Campaign Council, Chief (Dr.) Roland Oritsejafor in a remark, said that it was time for PDP members to unite and bring the party back to “continue the good work.”
On his part, the PDP Warri South Campaign Coordinator, Chief Israel Abido assured members of the party that everyone will reap from their labour once the PDP wins the 2019 polls at all levels.
Also Warri South PDP Chairman, Mr. Johnson Agbeyegbe, noted that inauguration of the ward campaign committees will lead to the setting up of unit canvassers and ultimately kick-start the party’s grassroots campaign.
