Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, has urged political office holders to use their positions to genuinely serve the people who need their assistance in the society.

Chief Akpeki made the call at an award ceremony for him and three other personalities by the Liberty Intelligent Our Nations Safety (LIONS) Club International District 404 A-1 Nigeria in Asaba.

The immediate past Commissioner of Housing eulogized great men like Chief Obafemi Awolowo and President John F. Kennedy for their self-sacrificing spirit, stating that they did not build houses of their own but provided platforms at their disposal to serve people with their talents and positions.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Head of Service of Delta State, Mr. Patrick Origho, who was also an awardee, noted that the objectives of the club is in line with the requirement of the Public Service which he is very proud to be associated with, asserting that the Civil Service is the bedrock of the Executive Arm of Government through its policies articulation, formulation and execution for the smooth running of government programmes.

Mr Origho stated that the Civil Service will continue to enhance the socio-economic and political well-being of the State through its selfless sacrifice in the discharge of its duties while acting with integrity to ensure procedural fairness and social justice even as he stressed on anonymity, neutrality and impartiality as the cardinal goals of the service.

The former Head of Service of Delta State, Sir Okey Ofili was also part of the awardees.
