New Chief of Army Staff, Okowa, Alaibe, Others Attend Burial of Pastor Akpobire
The sleepy Enwhe Community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, came alive at the weekend as the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Kenneth Minimah, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Timi Alaibe and host of others attended the burial of late Pastor Jacob William Akpobire who was laid to rest in a blaze of glory.
His journey to his final resting place began at about 11.00a.m. at the Ufor Hospital, Ughelli to Enwhe, his home town where he died at 81 years.
The community stood still when his corpse arrived in a motor-cade. The body of the devout Christian, father of Hon. Godwin Gary-Bire Akpobire was carried through the community by casket bearers before he was finally taken to the camp ground, Enwhe.
The camp ground where the funeral service was conducted attracted prominent personalities who came from far and near to pay their last respect to the departed devout Christian and community leader.
No fewer than 20 Ministers, including Pastor A.H. Owriagbo, Pastor A.I. Ezarevah, Pastor V. Omugbe, Pastor E. Agwa, Pastor Okpobor, Pastor Osusu S.I., Pastor J.M.U. Ogwor, Pastor J. Ewhoviewho, Pastor J.S. Isele, Pastor H. Dimoko and others officiated at the funeral service, describing their late colleague as a dedicated man of God.
After the colourful funeral, also attended by Chief James Jephtah, Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Abubarkar Mardi, HRH Diete Spiff, Leader of the House in Akwa Ibom State, Hon Etteh, Dr Farah, Dr Peter Black, Several European Union delegates led by Mr Carlos as well as several State Government Officials, the officiating Ministers carried the body of one of their own to his compound for interment.
His eldest son, Hon. Godwin Gary-Bire Akpobire, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family to all who stood by them through prayers, moral support, personal visits and presence since the call to glory of their dear father
