OKOWA RESTATES COMMITMENT TO PROTECT LIVES, PROPERTIES OF DELTANS

Delta state government under Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is poised now ever than before to ensure the protection of lives and properties of Deltans and resident non Deltans.
This was disclosed by Hon. David Tonwe, Director General, Security Matters, Delta State Government at a meeting with Executive members of Igbudu Market Traders Association, Warri at Governor’s Office Annex, Warri, he said that the peoples welfare, protection of lives and properties is of utmost priority and importance to the Dr. Okowa administration.
Hon. Tonwe disclosed that his office functions strategically to listen to their problems and proffer possible solutions to them adding that his office functions to receive and listen to security reports on all securities issues and work for ways and means of checking threats to peace and security in any part of the state.
The Director General noted with dismay that security situation in and around Igbudu Market is becoming alarming stressing that there is the need for the traders and his office to synergize so that they can work to mitigate all possible threat to security in the market.

Julius, Financial Secretary respectively expressed appreciation to Hon. Tonwe for taking the initiative to summon the meeting, they promised to collaborate, co-operate and work with his office to strengthen security in the market.
They listed their problems in the market to include lack of security lights, toilets, access roads, general security among others.
While commending Hon. Mofe Edema aka Man of God, Chairman, Warri South
Local Government Area for efforts in making the market a better place for traders and buyers alike, leaders of the traders however called on the authorities of the Council to do more for them in the market.
Responding, the Director General advised them to adopt the attitude of doing the right thing at the right time just as he frowned at the attitude of some traders who have converted major roads leading to the market to their shops by displaying their wares on the access roads thus the access into the market.
Hon. Tonwe assured the traders that he would keep liaising with the vigilante group on possible ways of engaging them in the market to add to the present security arrangement in the market disclosing that the vigilante group is a creation of law and are therefore a legal organization.
