N-Care program: Warri South LG boss receives Delta officials

Officers of the Delta State Fadama Coordination Office, Asaba (DTSFCO) on Tuesday visited the chairman of Warri South Council Area, Dr Michael Tidi, to intimate him about the flag off of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARE) program of the Federal Government.

Izuegbu Jahswill, Head,
Communication Unit, DTSFCO, who addressed the chairman, said the N-CARES is funded by the World Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria to help cushion the poor and vulnerable as well as Small and Medium Enterprises against the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jahswill added that the main objective of the programme is to expand access to livelihood support, food security services and grants to poor and vulnerable households and firms in Nigeria.

According to him, the program which is a “Program for Results” is designed to run for two years and is expected to be funded by the state government who will get reimbursement after results achieved has been verified by relevant Independent Verification Agents

He said the N-Care program will be implemented across the key result areas which include, Increased social transfers, basic services, and livelihood support for the poor and vulnerable, Increasing food security and sate functioning of food supply chains and facilitating recovery and enhancing capabilities of Micre and Snail Enterprises.

Jahswill added that Delta is handling the RA 2 of the N-CARES program which has the main objective of increasing food security and safe function of food supply chains for poor and vulnerable households in the state.

He therefore, appealed to the chairman of the Warri South Council to ensure that the Local Fadama Desk Office (LDO) which is domiciled in the department of Agriculture is made functional and operational with relevant staff and equipment, as the Desk Office shall be the Secretariat of the N CARES program at the LGA level.

He also appealed for help to create adequate awareness of the program to the people of the LGA with a view to mobilizing them for full participation.

Responding, Tidi assured the Delta State Fadama Coordination Office that the council will assist them to ensure that the Federal Government program goes down to grassroots.
