Bayelsa Environment Authority urges citizens to clean their environment

Chairman Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority Hon. Robert Enogha has tasked Bayelsans on environmental cleanness.
Enogha made this call While fielding questions from news men after the monthly environmental sanitation exercise held in the state.
Enogha who was represented by the Director of Operation in the
Environmental Sanitation Authority, Asanakpo Oyinkuro, described the exercise as successful despite some challenges, commending Bayelsans for their compliance.
The Chairman further noted that due to the awareness impacted by the Authority, the numbers of defaulters were highly reduced.
Enogha appealed to corporate organizations and individuals to partner with the Authority in the discharge of their duties, especially in the areas of provision of vehicles to convey staff around the city in monitoring the exercise.
According to Enogha the reason for the success of the sanitation exercise was as a result of new strategy used by the sanitation authority which enabled residents to come out in their numbers in clearing their environment.
The Chairman commended Staff of the Authority for their commitment, appreciating Environmental Health Officers, various voluntary organizations and individuals who came to support the Authority.
Defaulters were made to cut grass and clear drains according to the environmental sanitation laws.
Director Bayelsa State Sanitation Authority Board Mr. Pereowei Eguruze, and the Director in charge of waste management and cleanness, Mr. Gilbert Long-life, both stressed on the need for more partnership with the Authority, noting that the Authority only cannot do the enormous task along.
They also thanked the Nigeria Elite Security Organization (NESO) for their volunteering postures, tasking other organizations to emulate them.
The Authority impounded several trucks, notably Deawoo Construction Equipment, food items of defaulters among others.
The chairman also urged companies and individuals to always come for official permit or their vehicles will be impounded and they will be prosecuted in compliance with the Authority law stipulated.
“The law will be no respecter of persons no matter how highly placed,” said the chairman.
