We are not at war with Yoruba – Ijaw Youth Leader
By Our Correspondent
National President, Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA), in Lagos, Comrade Fiyebo Eperetei has said that the Ijaws in Lagos were not at war with Yorubas, adding that, it will be unfortunate for anybody to plan an attack on Ijaws in Lagos.
He said the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) have not issued any threats against any “installations in Lagos” and any other part of Nigeria, noting that the alleged threat or plan by Niger Delta Avengers cannot be capitalised upon to threaten peace abiding Ijaw people in Lagos State.
Comrade Eperetei, in a statement he signed and made available to our correspondent he said, “ We use this medium to appeal to acclaimed Oodua Defender Union, (ODU) that we are not at war with anybody in Lagos State, and that the Ijaws in Lagos are peace loving people that have never caused any disunity in the state and consider it sad to hear about a group planning to attack law abiding Ijaw citizens because a group operating in Niger Delta are allegedly agitating for Niger Delta interest not of Ijaw alone.
‘We, however, appeal to ODU to withdraw the statement credited to them in a publication of May 10, this year, in the spirit of peace and unity betwen our two people.”
