Dame Okowa Celebrates Christmas With Less-Privileged In Warri

AS part of her effort to put smiles in the faces of the less privileged in the society during this Yuletide period and in line with her pet project tagged O5 Initiative, the wife of the Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa,weekend celebrated Christmas with the less privileged children in orphanage homes.
The 2015 Children Christmas party which was held in Warri at the residence of the Deputy Governor of the state, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, saw many children from all the orphanage homes in Warri and environs entertained with beautiful songs which the children danced to the admiration of wives of Council chairmen.
The inmates of the orphanage homes were presented with gift items such as school bags, bags of rice, toiletries, packets of Indomi, groundnut oil, and a host of other wonderful gift items
Speaking at the occasion, Dame Edith Okowa who was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Engr. (Deaconess) Ebierin Otuaro thanked the different orphanage homes that accepted her invitation to come and dine with her, saying that it gives her pleasure to see that no child is left out in this Yuletide period
She said the orphans in the society are just like every other children who should not be denied anything in the society, adding that being an orphan does not mean that they cannot achieve their dreams of becoming great men and women in the future.
She said: Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ Jesus. It is a period of showing love by giving as shown to us by God when he gave us His son Jesus Christ. Hence the first lady of Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa is showing love to the orphans in our state by organizing this special Christmas party by giving them gifts at this time of the season. ”
She said what she is doing was part of her pet project called 05 initiative which was founded based on the book of Mathew 25 vs 35, 36.
She said the verse encourages people to give assistant to the people in need who are living around us, adding that it is the first step of creating a better society.
While commending all the children for attending the party, Wife of the Governor said that the Christmas party was specially made for them.
She commended those who are taking care of the children saying that they have done greater than what any man can do.
She said God will bless them for their efforts and dedication for taking care of the orphans.
According to her: “I commend the efforts of the matrons and patrons of the orphanage homes. God will bless you for your efforts. You have decided to leave all other lucrative jobs that will fetch you money and make you rich men and women and decided to take care of these children. You have done what many out there cannot do”.
Our Correspondent reports that other children later joined the orphans to enjoy the Christmas party and they all went home happy with so many gift items.
The orphanage homes that benefitted from the Christmas party include; St Ann’s Orphanage Home, Heart of Delta orphanage Home, kings of Kids Compassionate Home, Porters House Church Orphanage Home, Under His Wings Daughterson Orphanage Home and Little Saints Orphanage Home.
