Warri South chairman says no going back on beautification of Warri

Chairman, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta, Dr Michael Tidi, on Saturday said his administration will do everything lawful to ensure that Warri becomes a clean city like other cities in the world.
Tidi who made this statement while monitoring the state monthly environmental sanitation exercise cum enforcement of the roadmap on improving the aesthetics of Warri by the Warri South Local Government Council Taskforce on Beautification, Commended some of the citizens for queueing behind the council in ensuring that Warri becomes clean again.
He said the activities of the Warri South Task Force on Beatification was not to witch-hunt anybody stressing that the people voted for him during the last election to make life better for everyone in the council.
He therefore appealed to members of the council to cooperate with the Warri South Local Government Task Force on Beatification to rid the council of illegal structures.
“What you see them doing today is not to punish or witch-hunt anybody because the people have voted for this government. But like I always say, Warri must be at per with other cities in the country, Tidi said.
When asked what has caused delays in setting up a mobile court to try defaulters as earlier promised, Dr Tidi said the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, was the cause.
On his part, the Vice Chairman of the Warri South Taskforce on Beautification, Hon. Mavis Onojeghwho, warned all those who have not removed their illegal structures along major roads in Warri to do so or they will have their wares confiscated.
Onojeghwho, who is also a former principal member of the Warri South Council Legislative Arm, added that the task force will continually embark on the exercise until it achieved it’s desired results.
Chairman of Warri South Council Taskforce on Beautification, Mr. Kenneth George, coordinated the evacuation of illegal structures and refuse along the Warri South Council Main Secretariat axis of Warri Sapele Road, NPA Bypass by Ugbori and Ekurede Itsekiri, adjacent the NPA New Port, Mciver Market Roundabout, Okere Road and other strategic locations in Warri.
