Bayelsa Security Week 2014: CP Highlights Interrelationship with Public/Security Agencies

The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Mr. Hilary Opara has tasked  security agencies and the general public for synergy in curbing crime rate in Bayelsa State, especially oil hunkering, kidnapping and the host of others.

Compol made the revelation while interacting with newsmen during the
Bayelsa state security week 2014, which was attended by the Army, Navy, Airforce, Civil Defence Corps, Immigration and other Para military organization.

Mr. Opara, who was ably represented by the Area Commanders ,thanked the Bayelsa State government for their great support, describing the security week in Bayelsa State as a synergy for security agencies to come together to chant ways for ward, give appraisal, analyzed critical areas of challenges and proffer solutions.

For frequent upsurge of kidnapping in Bayelsa State, Mr. Opara noted that the unrest is basically the problem with crime, it goes up, it goes down, there is never a static correlation, when there is uprise in crime, the various security agencies will also strategies proactively to foil it drastically.

Cp advice Bayelsa youths to avoid crime, shun violence, project the state to a better perspective. Also speaking the special adviser to Bayelsa State government Col. Benard Kenebai (Rtd.) while addressing the press, said there are several local refineries in Bayelsa state, for the local market, he further noted that the government is making frantic effort to have it legitimate back up, to curtailed the illegal bunkering which will go a long way in reducing oil thieves.

SA security bemoans the diversion of fuel products in NNPC floating station which he said is a collective efforts, appealing to the general public to monitor fuel supply in solving fuel scarcity in our various communities, this has prompted Bayelsa state government, tasking the various local government to set-up security task force on oil bunkering, when legal approval is given the local refineries would be boosted.

In their various contributions at the security stakeholders’ forum, they commended the president of the federal republic of Nigeria Dr Goodluck Jonathan for his proactive measures in the security of lives and property, stressing for the establishment of special court on oil thief for the quick dispensation of justice.

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson was ably represented by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah {rtd},
commended the various security agencies for their contributions, noting that more effort should be required of them despite several challenges, pledging to support security agencies in the execution of their constitutional duties.
