Uduaghan Commissions Rehabilitated Schools in Warri, Says Schools Will Boost Morale of Students, Teachers
Francis Sadhere
The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan today said his administration has decided concentrated on rehabilitating, rebuilding and building new schools to boost the morale of both students and teachers and to make the learning environment in all public schools in the state conducive for learning .
Governor Uduaghan said this while commissioning the 48 blocks of Classrooms in Dom Domingo College, Warri, Delta State, fully rehabilitated and rebuilt by his administration.
Governor Emmanuel said the school has a very strong history and that was why his administration decided to rebuild the school, adding that the school was long overdue for rehabilitation as hoodlums had turned it into their hideout where they carry out various nefarious activities.
The Governor said since the rebuilding of the school, students and teachers psychology towards teaching and learning has changed as they now learn in a peaceful and enabling environment they are proud of, adding that other students would want to come to the school to learn since the environment has been made conducive for everybody.
While calling on the students and teachers to ensure that the school environment and facilities were well taken care of, Governor Uduaghan also thanked the Okere/Urhobo and the Edjeba communities for providing the enabling peaceful environment for the completion of the project.
The Governor thanked the host community for providing the land where the school and other government projects where located without collecting any compensation from government, promising that government will reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that most of the youths in the community are employed in the government establishments located in their areas.
Earlier, the Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of Okere/Urhobo, Chief Wilson Eboh thanked the Governor for rebuilding the school saying that they count themselves lucky for the state government to bring in different laudable projects like the Revenue building, State School of Nursing, NDDC Office, College of Education, Warri Urban Water Project, etc, to their community.
Eboh, however, appealed to the governor to provide adequate employment for its teeming qualified youths as well as those of their neighboring communities of Edjeba and Ugboroke in all the government establishments “so that they can be useful to themselves, the society and Delta state at large.”
Earlier, the Governor also commissioned the Atuwatse II Model Primary School and Uwangue College, both in Warri.
