Uduaghan Assures of Government’s Continuous Interest in Mission Schools

Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has assured that the state government would continue to show interest in the development of the schools handed over to missions.

Governor Uduaghan who gave this assurance Monday when he commissioned sporting facilities built by the State Government at the St. Patrick’s College, Asaba stated that though the schools have been handed over to the missions, the students in the schools were Deltans and there was the need to ensure that they get quality education like all Deltans as they would be part of the State human capital.

According to him: “This is one of the star schools in the state despite the fact that we have handed it over, we are interested in the development of the school and investing in it as the children in the  school are children of Deltans. They will be asset to the state when they complete their studies, this is why we are paying attention to these schools, they remain part of the history of the state and are still part of our history, we need to encourage them”.

He said that the sporting facilities were meant for the physical and mental development of the students and urged them to utilise the sporting facilities especially the lawn tennis courts as equipment and trainers have been provided for them.

Earlier, Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Dr. Tony Nwaka, have disclosed that the sporting facilities were meant to develop sporting activities in schools, discover young talents which can be developed to represent Nigeria in sports meet and keep the minds of the teeming youths away from nefarious activities.

In a related development, Governor Uduaghan has commissioned the Delta State Water Quality Control Laboratory in Asaba.

Speaking while inspecting the facilities at the Laboratory which was the only one of its kind in the South South region, the Governor stated that quality water supply was very vital for the health of the people.

While expressing confidence that the Quality Control Laboratory would endure that quality portable water gets to Deltans, Governor Uduaghan challenged officials of Ministry of Water Resources not to compromise on quality.
